Azogires – 99 Saints Cave – Turkish Fort – Paleochora   Grade: Medium   Total Distance: 11.5 km.

From the village of Azogires the walk starts with a steady climb to the ‘cave of the 99 Saints’, a spot of legends. The cave proves to be much more than a simple cavern, it is a complex of huge cracks of intriguing beauty high on the mountain slope. Next stop are the ruins of a small fort dating back to the Turkish domination; an amazing location with formidable views. A long and gradual descent along a century’s old mule path – only recently cleaned and restored by Paleochora Nature - brings you back into Paleochora.

Booking fee € 6.00, which includes a map, route description and GPS track plus € 7.50 pp. for the transfer per minibus to the start of the walk. Book and pay in our office at the Kontekaki Street (next to the Chania Bank) in Paleochora.
